Who and what is a REALTORS®? |
|
|
Some people think that all real estate agents are "Realtors®," calling agents by that name generically without realizing that not every agent can legally use the title. A REALTOR® is a real estate agent or affiliated real estate professional who is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, called NAR for short. Realtors® are located in all parts of the world. REALTORS® place a value on both our time and our knowledge, and receive compensation for the services we provide. Many people don't fully understand how the real estate profession works. Those who do receive BETTER SERVICE because they form a trusting relationship with ONE Realtor. Consider the loyalty you have toward your doctor, dentist, hair stylist, day care provider, etc. That's how you should view YOUR Realtor. We often are not compensated until after a property's sale or purchase is completed (the "closing.") We TRUST that you will not jump to another Realtor to complete a purchase or sale, which would mean that all the time and work we provided you would not be compensated. Do you want to work for free? Could you afford to work 50-100 hours for someone without being paid? Please don't ask or expect us to. Thanks. We only work with a few clients and customers at any one time. We describe our services to be performed in a written document. For sellers, this is called the Exclusive Right To Sell Agreement. For buyers, it is called the Buyer's Letter of Engagement. If you become a client, we will ask you to sign and abide by one of these agreements.
